Juice Press | RFP Pitch

MUSIC SUPERVISION // SOUND DESIGN

Serena Kuo cut this edit as part of a pitch to Juice Press around 2015 or so. It was a cool little piece that was going to be used as a meeting opener, but I decided to take it a little further and add a whole sound treatment on my own time. Sound design is an awesome creative outlet, and super rewarding when the piece you are working with has great action cues. This particular edit allowed me to get abstract with some of the sounds, which made the whole cut feel surreal and almost like a fever dream. I love working with audio and this was one of the most rewarding projects for that, even though it was never actually used!

Pandora “Be Love”

This is my favorite project we worked on for Pandora over the years. To be honest, this is MY version of this edit, but the original idea/concept/look/direction came via Creative Director Biba Von Speyr (I hope she’s ok with me borrowing the thunder). Aside from that, this cut just hits on so many levels to me - the organic, authentic feeling of the copy (cc: Bracha Berkovitz), the bold, vibrant footage; it’s just engages you right form the start and holds your attention util the last frame. Mixing from music track to music track was something I handled personally as well, and while I may not have a career as a music producer, I’m happy with how it turned out. The entire edit is a jam from front to back, and I frequently re-watch it.

DONOR REQUEST: LIVE

AI ARTWORK & CHARACTER DEV // AI ANIMATION // VIDEO EDITING // SOUND DESIGN // VOICE OF “TESTY”

Recently, I've had the incredible pleasure of working with Autumn Bruton, Mellani Johnson and Miles Stenehjem on a passion project we're calling "Donor Request: LIVE" - an animated web series exploring organ donation and how we, as people, relate to it. Birthed from Autumn's wildly creative mind, the show was made on a shoe string budget with a small but mighty team, leveraging generative AI for all the artwork, characters and animation. This is how AI SHOULD be used - not to cut corners and churn out content, but to give a voice to people and topics that would otherwise be unaccomplishable.

beauty & fashion | sizzle Edit

VIDEO EDITING // AUDIO EDITING

Sizzle reels are a useful tool for pitching directors, highlighting key work, and generally working up excitement around a brand or initiative. I’ve worked with many editors over the years cutting scores of these type of edits, but this one I cut together myself in free time, and really like how it turned out. I think the music set a really fun tone, and the colors and vibrancy of all the spots really pop nicely. It’s a touch long for a sizzle, as 60 seconds is really the sweet spot, but I chose to give it a little more breathing room.

campari | spec

SOUND DESIGN // AUDIO MIXING

I worked with Sam & Laura Kaplan on this Campari spec, to bring the audio landscape to life. The cut is super fun, complete with vibrant colors, 70s vibes, and a Fruit-Ninja-esque orange slice toward the end. I love how the whole scene is made to feel like it’s taking place within the cabinet; that was a nice opportunity to muffle and stifle the sound up front, so when the doors open, you feel like you’re really stepping into their world. Great spot, and wonderful collaborators to work with.

Burger Baby | spec

This cut is just a good time, front to back. Super fun, lighthearted, great imagery, and a music track that ties the entire thing together. I had a great time working on this one, especially searching for a song. Elvis’ “Unchained Melody” hit on every level, and complimented the script’s (written by Loan Tran) over the top nature perfectly. My favorite moment is the release of energy during the “fry fall” mid way through. I absolutely love working on projects that afford a sense of adventure, attitude, and verbosity.

Desert Flower

AI GENERATION // VFX // MUSIC SUPERVISION // AUDIO EDITING

This was a little side project I did, while I was exploring AI generation. AI has developed so rapidly, that the tools available today are much more rich and refined - and even as I type that, I’m sure a new tool is being released that surpasses even those limits. AI’s pace is both daunting and exciting. For my purposes, though, this piece hits a part of me I find poetic. A flower, thriving and colorful, amidst the dead of the desert. I may rework this at some point in the future, but for now, I wanted it represented.

MICHAELS | RFP PITCH

CG SUPERVISION // SOUND DESIGN

I worked with Yves Pasquarelli on this piece as a part of a pitch to Micheals Stores. This edit uses CG simulation to generate a life like and super detailed ink smear that rushes and slices around a canvas. The simulation work was tough - it takes a lot of computer power and a lot of time to render and create these beautiful textures. As always, Yves came up with an excellent piece, which was further brought to life by the gloppy, rushed sound palette I developed for it. I especially dig how the piece ends with a moment of punctuation, that unfolds in a perfect cadence of sound. It really gives you that sense of completion and satisfaction when the branding hits.

REmixes

AUDIO PRODUCTION // AUDIO EDITING

One of my hobbies is making remixes of popular songs. Sometimes I find a track, while searching for music for a spot, that hits me and I just have to throw some lyrics on it. The hobby spiraled out into several different directions, between mash-ups, remixes, and total reinterpretations of some songs. It’s a lot of fun when everything locks in right and starts gelling together.

IN THE WILD

When I lived in Long Island City, I walked by this mural every day. It was simple, but I loved it for some reason. It was in bad shape, though, so I found the owner or the property and made a deal with them to repaint it, if they covered costs for materials. It took a LONG TIME, and I am by no means a painter, but I think I crushed it. Does my heart well knowing that this mural has been revived and will continue to thrive for years now (unless the building gets demolished, I suppose, ha!)

My longtime colleague, Kyle Schuerger, loves Gaga. I believe he’s been to 7 shows, and counting. In an interview on the red carpet, Gaga was wearing an outfit made of a large car part, and when asked what kind of car part it was, she replied “I don’t know. I’m not a mechanic”.

Kyle then posted how he loved that and said “put this on a shirt and sell it to me!”. So I designed something, put it on a shirt, and sold it to him, for $1.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease 👍🏻

A few years back, we had a plant in our office. The owner let it die, and it withered to nothing but a 4-inch, dry stick. Instead of tossing it, I threw it in a glass of water that I changed every week. By April 2nd, 2023, it had come back to life and sprouted a leaf. By Sept 5th, 2024, is had grown exponentially, sprouting several new leaves. By February 6th, 2025, the plant has begun thriving, requiring additional supports to maintain it.

Sometimes in life, all you need is a little hope and consistent effort. I find this to be inspiring and a source of comfort during difficult times.
